When do the HOA annual dues need to be paid?
Payment is due January 1st but has a 30-day payment window until January 31st. Any payments made after this date will receive a 10% late fee. Some years may extend a payment period if reminder notifications are sent out late.
Do I need to alert the police to cars being parked in the street overnight?
Yes. You can do so easily through the Oak Grove website by clicking on the Services tab and choosing the Police and Fire dropdown. Click the Overnight Parking option.
Where do I start about getting a fence installed?
If you are repairing or replacing like for like in the same location, no HOA approval is required. However, if you change location/placement, taller or style, please submit property survey showing location and a picture of the proposed fence panel/dimensioned to the HOA. HOA board approval is required before the Village of Wauconda will issue a permit. HOA will provide a response letter to you that you can take to the Village to accompany your permit application once there is HOA approval. That process typically takes 1-3 weeks.
What is allowed to be in the driveway and for how long?
Vehicles not parked across or encroaching on a sidewalk are allowed at all times. Other items are allowed to be in a driveway for a maximum allowed period of three (3) days only. After that, all items such as: recreational vehicles; commercial vehicles; construction supplies; gardening materials; entertainment items [tents, trampolines, inflatables, etc.]; or any other unsightly items must be removed.
What is the tallest allowed length of grass and/or weeds allowed in the subdivision?
While the Village of Wauconda allows for lengths up to 8" before a fine, Oak Grove prefers a maximum of 6" for yards. This maintains of more attractive curb appeal, reduces the mosquito population that the HOA pays for abatement, and helps prevent the spread of weeds to neighbors' lawns that they work hard to prevent.
When can I call the village to file a complaint about a barking dog?
While the HOA recommends waiting a 15-minute period of incessant barking, the village of Wauconda stipulates that you can file a complaint after only 3 minutes of nonstop barking.
